If you are looking for a super easy dipping sauce for grilled chicken (or pork, or beef) you have come to the right place. If you are anything like me, I have the grill and the Green Egg working overtime all year long and I find myself searching for new ways to keep grilled chicken interesting (and keeping my kids from getting bored). Anyway, this is a super easy recipe that takes a few minutes to mix up. You can store the sauce in old glass bottles in the fridge…and it works on just about any grilled meat (and some veggies too). If you are wondering what the end flavor is…think about the dipping sauce for tempura at a Chinese restaurant…or the sauce served with pot stickers or dumplings….. good luck!
What you need:
- Glass jar (I re-use olive oil bottles or hot sauce bottles)
- ½ cup soy sauce (I use low sodium but you can use anything you have)
- ¼ cup rice wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoons ginger (finely grated)
- 2 cloves garlic, smashed and finely chopped
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
Mix all of your ingredients and pour into your glass jar. You can double every measurement above and double your yield if you want. Place sauce in the fridge and let it sit for an hour to let the flavors develop. And you are ready to go. That’s it…
Feel free to get creative and add diced up green onions or diced peppers (Thai peppers are killer, but fresh jalapenos will do).
One more thing, check out this website for a super cool way to cut up chicken. I like to cut my chicken like they do in Chinese restaurants…kind of like little “bone in” pieces…it looks cool and it is a super fun way to eat your chicken (also it works perfect with a dipping sauce).
