White BBQ Sauce (aka Alabama White Sauce)
This recipe is as easy as it gets. It is awesome. White Sauce is great on smoked chicken. Perfect on ribs. It is damn near life changing on whole hog. I know that this sauce is all about Alabama and Morgan County…but it is showing up more and more around the south. If you have not tried making your own BBQ sauce….give it a shot….traditional, mustard, or white…..a few minutes and a bit of mixing will take you light years away from “store-bought” sauces……I am not trying to exaggerate but this sauce will turn heads. Whatevers, judge for yourself…and if you don’t like this you are dead to me. Just kidding (not really).
- 1 ½ cups Dukes mayonnaise (Dukes…only Dukes)
- ½ cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp. salt (kosher)
- 1 tbsp. freshly ground black pepper
- 1 \4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 3 tsp honey
- 2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1\2 tsp. of onion powder
Wisk all this together. Let sit for 20-30 mins in the fridge…and there you go. The pictures I have here are of a Boston Butt, smoked on a green egg, shredded with onion and cabbage. If you have read my other articles you know that I buy my fresh made corn tortillas at a little Mexican grocery store around the corner (if you have one of these close to you….stop in, make friends, and look for a cooler packed with warm, fresh tortillas……$1.50 worth of fresh tortillas is a game changer). Or check out our recipe here to make your own homemade corn tortillas.
